The Ultimate Power

There was an old, beloved woman who was lying on her deathbed. She had lived a full life. She was prepared to transition to the next phase of life without fears, doubts or regrets. She felt that she had made a lot of good choices in her life and even her poor choices had brought her valuable lessons.

When she left her body, she found herself drawn into a great white dome made of light. She asked, “Why am I here?”

She felt a powerful voice vibrate throughout her whole being. The voice said, “I want to show you something.”

All of a sudden, she found herself a pure soul, preparing to enter her mother’s body. She knew that this was her entry point into an amazing existence full of great potential.

Then she experienced in rapid succession moment after moment from her life that she had long forgotten. If she would have recalled any of those brief moments on her own, she would have considered them insignificant. But with each jump through her life on Earth, she was allowed to perceive the great power working within and through these seemingly insignificant moments that revealed how essential and pivotal they were to the life she had lived on Earth. In every moment, she perceived how she had been subtly nudged, guided and inspired throughout her entire life. She even became aware of the many times she could have made choices in greater harmony with her deepest desires but did not. She perceived the innumerable adjustments that transpired to help her fulfill her unique purpose.

On her deathbed, she believed that she had chosen a life that brought her great meaning and purpose. From this expanded perspective, she was humbled beyond all comprehension. The choices that she had made were truly her own individual choices, and yet the entire context of every decision had been shaped and guided by a beingness of unimaginable subtlety, deftness, wisdom and love.

She received a glimpse of how her life fit into a vast plan that had been billions of years in the making. She could barely sense the infinitely loving multidimensional calculations and the incalculably small and intricately woven adjustments made across vast stretches of time and space to bring everything to the present moment.

Yes, she had made choices. Until this moment, she had not been able to perceive the subtle hidden forces that had helped her to realize her heartfelt desires throughout her existence. She had been completely unaware of the Infinite Power working through a multitude of ways and means helping her to settle into the grooves where she could sing her unique song while not impeding anyone else the ability to sing their songs, the elevated spaces where she could shine her light without interfering with anyone else’s light, the connections and relationships where she could love and be loved as only she could while allowing for the infinite expansion of love throughout all of isness. She was even able to perceive how her desires had blended with the desires of infinite others to bring things into being that she had not imagined possible.

When the experience was over, and she was back in the vast hall of light, she dropped to her knees, tears pouring down her face. She was overcome with humility and gratitude by the unexpected and shocking grandeur she had just experienced.

The voice whispered, “Let’s see what we can do together now that you know.”

Secrets of the Story

This story represents part of my sense of the nature of human existence. We have been indoctrinated to believe that we are separate individuals who make choices that determine the quality of our existence within the particular contexts we find ourselves.

But what if we are missing most of the hidden, gentle and subtle ways that Divinity is helping us to fill our unique niche in the ecology of the cosmos? What if the part we play in our experience of existence isn’t as great as we’ve been taught? What if we’re getting much more help, guidance and inspiration than we’re acknowledging? What if words like “fate” and destiny” are not what we thought, but rather arrows pointing toward a Great Power that desires to help all of us and all of life to progress toward our best and highest beingness and expressions now and throughout eternity?

For me, this story begs the question, “What might be possible if we stopped fighting the Divine Plan and started aligning and harmonizing more and more with our unique part in that plan. What adventures might we experience? What wonders might we encounter. What awesomeness might become a part of our everyday experience?

Indeed, how much more humble and grateful might we become as we recognize the vast and limitless forces who are helping us through what we think of as the stories of our lives which are like slender threads woven within a vastly intricate multidimensional lattice that represents the infinite unfolding of Eternal Love?
